If the evenings are reserved for screenings of the most awarded films and absolute premieres, during the day, good music conquers the courtyard of the Art Museum, one of the main attractions on the TIFF 2020 map.
A traditional partner of the festival, Banca Transilvania promotes at this edition 12 young bands and artists from Romania, under the umbrella of BT live Sessions - Art Museum Edition.
From jazz, blues, reggae, to classical music and Romanian romances, the musical styles approached by the invited artists will spice up the festival days, inviting the public to discover new voices of local music, but also figures already known locally, in a series of concerts with free access, within the available seats.
On Tuesday, August 4, from 2 PM, the audience will listen to Babțan-Varga Flórián, a graduate of the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. He has a special penchant for modern classical music, collaborates with various composers of contemporary music and always seeks to bring something new to the public. From 3 PM, Matei Sax & Man Zett will surprise the audience with a generous portion of swing, rock’n’roll, funk, electro swing and standard jazz. Diana Saveanu, The best voice at Jazz in the Park 2017, goes on the open air stage at 4 PM, and from 5 PM, Maria Alexievici returns to Cluj, or rather at home, with a program of Romanian songs and interwar romances reinterpreted in the formula for voice and piano.
On Saturday, August 8, Duo Harmony will bring an extra harmony to BT live Sessions starting with 2 PM, and from 3 PM, the talented pianist from Satu Mare, Cente Cristian, will surprise the audience with an experimental sound. Andreea Alexievici prepared for the meeting with the public a collage with soundtracks from the most beautiful movies, to be listened live from 4 PM. The musical program of the day will culminate with Andrei Petru and his onemanband - a mix of famous songs, reinterpreted in his characteristic style, from 5 PM.
On the last day of TIFF, on August 9, an explosion of spontaneity, energy, groove and swing will conquer the courtyard of the Art Museum at 2 PM, when Mihail, Mara and Robert from Jazz & Blues will take on the stage. From 3PM, the public will (re) discover Bogdan Ghirau, who has already stood out on the AWAKE stage, and from 4 PM, the soloist and drummer of the band SCORE will present their new project - MarSe. From the stages of the big jazz festivals in the country, those from Sidewalk Troubadours arrive at TIFF, from 5 PM.
