Originally programmed for the previous Transilvania IFF edition and postponed due to pandemic travel restrictions, two experimental shows bring two well-known composers, conductors, and performers — Julie Roué from France and Simona Strungaru from Romania — face to face to compose scores for the same silent film, Carmine Gallone’s gothic melodrama classic Malombra (1917).
Julie Roué plays piano and guitar, among other instruments, and has scored over 40 films, some of them awarded in Cannes. Her style combines classic elements with jazz, electronic, world, and experimental music, as well as strong pop influences. At Transilvania IFF she will be accompanied by percussionist Stan Delannoy and Louise Belmas (keyboard, laptop).
The event is organised in partnership with Festival La Rochelle Cinéma (France).
The cine-concerts are presented by MOL Romania.
